Parent Power

Cheadle Hulme High School's 2016 examination results have seen us
shoot up the ranks in the Times Parent Power survey.

The annual survey ranks schools by attainment of students at grades A* - B at 'A' level and A*/A at GCSE.
The A level grades are double weighted.

In the list of top secondary state schools, CHHS holds 25th position nationally for comprehensive schools.
This is a fantastic achievement for students and staff and particularly for the Sixth Form,
celebrating only its second set of A level results.

 CHHS in Top 5% UK-wide in Progress 8 Results

The new school performance measure 'Progress 8' has shown the outstanding comprehensive
Cheadle Hulme High School in Stockport to be one of the highest performing schools in the country.

Progress 8 is a new secondary accountability measure aimed at measuring the progress of pupils across a selected set of 8 subjects. For a further explanation please see the following video from the Department for Education.

Progress 8 Measure 
 

Progress 8 is based on students’ progress measured across eight subjects: English; mathematics; three other English Baccalaureate (EBacc) subjects (sciences, computer science, geography, history and languages); and three further subjects, which can be from the range of EBacc subjects, or can be any other approved, high-value arts, academic, or vocational qualification.

The official performance tables place Cheadle Hulme High School in the top 5% nationally.

Progress 8 Score

This is the highest rating in Stockport and also shows Cheadle Hulme High School outperforming
many schools throughout the region. Looking at Progress 8 across Greater Manchester the
comprehensive Cheadle Hulme High School outperforms all of the grammar schools in Trafford.

Linda Magrath, headteacher at Cheadle Hulme High School, says ‘I am immensely proud of the
progress all our students make. Our aim is to ensure our students go on to a future of their
choosing. This new performance measure fully recognises their achievements and the hard work
of all the staff here at Cheadle Hulme High School.’

We place great importance on our core purpose of teaching and learning and on supporting our students in developing the ‘KASH’ – Knowledge, Attitudes, Skills and Habits – which will enable them to flourish and succeed. This ethos was recognised in our Ofsted inspection in December 2014:

The headteacher, senior leaders, middle leaders and governing body work with passion and a shared vision and determination for all students at the school to excel at all levels. There is an established and embedded ethos throughout the school of high expectations and aspirations for all. The headteacher is relentless in her drive for even higher standards and continuously challenges both staff and students to do their very best.”

We work hard to ensure that every member of our school community has access to a rich and diverse range of opportunities. For our students, this is provided through our Cornerstones programme which comprises Academic Aspiration , Leadership and Service , Culture and Creativity and Competition and Physical Endeavour . We believe that these four Cornerstones underpin an educational experience which will prepare students for life beyond school and deliver our vision which is

We will ensure that students from all backgrounds are able to discover new talents and interests and develop existing ones.
We strongly believe that physical activity and competition, both intra and inter school, are vital to the holistic development of young people, fostering their physical, social and emotional health.

We believe that the benefits of physical activity and sport reach way beyond their impact on physical wellbeing and are evident in other aspects of education and welfare.
