Since the founding of Cheadle Hulme Endowed School in 1788 by John Robinson, the school has prided itself on its sense of community. A history of the early school can be viewed here ( Voices 1788-1990 PDF ).
Over the years, a number of past students and former members of staff have kept in touch with the school in some shape or form. Indeed, many former students have returned to school as members of staff. Here are some words from Carl Meweezen MBE who left us in 1994 and now works at the Cabinet Office.
"I've found participating with CHHS as an active alumnus to be really rewarding. It's been great to meet the current crop of students and talk with them about what life was like at Woods Lane in the 80's. It was particularly good to talk with Year 11 students about how choices I made in the lower sixth have impacted on my career. The sixth form were so interested in what I do at work that we invited a group into our office to spend an afternoon learning more about the civil service, role-playing a Spending Review process and looking around Whitehall. We found it inspiring to host such talented young people, and it's been heartening since to learn how this visit has encouraged students to increase their aspirations. And it's been really good to re-visit the school after so many years; to walk the corridors again and reminisce; to see how much the old place has developed and see the fantastic new sixth form facilities; to meet old friends and former teachers; and to reconnect with our community of brilliant and talented students."
We recognise that, through the strong bonds of friendship formed at Cheadle Hulme, students have remained strong friends and have established their own social network.
Our aim now is to bring as many of our past and present school community together under one umbrella, our Alumni.
Initially, we were asking former students and staff to sign up to our chosen partner, FutureFirst, a registered charity in England and Wales (1135638). This has now been discontinued and we intend to keep these records within school. To sign up and register your interest, complete our secure form at the top of the page.
Members of the Alumni will be welcome to help the school when opportunities arise and to attend relevant events, but there will be no pressure in either regard.
As an alumnus of Cheadle Hulme High School we would like to stay in touch with you and begin a partnership that will last forever. Connectivity and communication sit at the heart of our alumni community. We aim to provide and support increased networking opportunities for our former students and staff, whether for friendship, business, or re-acquaintance.
